'Donkeys and Kings'

Just wanted to note that my latest book “Donkeys and Kings” is now available (yes, the title is a play off of Trocme's book "Angels and Donkeys"). As you can guess from the title, it is a children’s book (though it is really for adults) that seeks to tell fictitious stories about how non-human animals in the Bible participate in the upside-down kingdom of God. If you are looking for some short stories that attempt to sneak in parables about the complexities of power and how that conflicts with the dissident path of the peaceable kingdom then you may find this book interesting (or, if your lifestyle is friendly to nonhuman animals via veganism/vegetarianism, animal conservation, etc., then there are certainly a few moments for you as well).

It is a rather odd little book that betrays influences ranging from Origen to Barth, Kierkegaard to Wittgenstein, Dorothy Day to Brian K. Vaughn, as well as The Beatles (though I wish I could have worked in Propagandhi).

I am very interested in any comments you might have on the book . . . unless you are that person who recently referred to me as a “disturbed man” for attempting to fill kids minds with "leftist propaganda about pacifism, breaking laws, and other liberal ideologies.” (What? Nonviolence is a product of liberalism?!?) A word to the wise: Do not accept invitations to do interviews at “Christian Family Radio Stations” anywhere in the South.

Thanks.

Tripp York

This is a nice little book. It's really cool.

Nekeisha is going to review it for the site Tripp. Hopefully that will generate some extra interest. We have gotten delayed a bit by events at Goshen otherwise the review would have been written and posted by now. Soon though.

Sounds good, Tripp. I'm going to try to talk some old people at my church into buying this for their grandkids.

Hey, thanks Andy. I do appreciate Nekeisha reviewing it. And thanks to you Porter and Graham for picking up a copy. Let me know what you think.

Stefan, good luck with those 'old' people. They can be a handful. :>
